29 April 2024 – The team from the International Institute of Public Policy and Management (INPUMA) at Universiti Malaya (UM), led by the Executive Director, Datuk Dr Anis Yusal Yusoff, paid a courtesy visit to Her Excellency (H. E.) Joana Veneranda Amaral, the Outgoing Ambassador of the Democratic Republic of Timor Leste to Malaysia. During the visit, Datuk Dr Anis briefed H. E. Ambassador Joana on the upcoming Malaysian Technical Cooperation Programme (MTCP) co-organized by INPUMA and Malaysia's Ministry of Foreign Affairs. In response, H.E. Ambassador Joana expressed her warm regards for the commitment of INPUMA UM and Malaysia to the capacity-building program for civil servants of Timor Leste.

This year's MTCP holds special significance for the bilateral ties between Malaysia and Timor Leste. The Malaysian government sponsored this special training program to welcome Timor Leste's membership into ASEAN next year. Additionally, Malaysia will assume the role of the 2025 chairman of the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN). Through this MTCP, the Malaysian government has given INPUMA UM a special honour to promote Malaysia's best practices and experiences in institutional reform and policymaking governance.
