23 October 2024: The International Institute of Public Policy and Management (INPUMA) and
Universiti Malaya Centre for Leadership and Development (UMLEAD) were pleased to host a visit
and academic exchange with the Institut Pemerintahan Dalam Negeri (IPDN) from Jatinangor
Campus in Bandung, Indonesia.

The delegation from IPDN, led by Associate Professor Dr Andi Pitono, the Dean of the Faculty of
Government Politics, visited as part of the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) signed between
IPDN and INPUMA UM. The visit occurred at Studio 10, Level 3 of the Grand Wyndham Hotel in
Bangsar, Kuala Lumpur.

During the meeting, INPUMA members, led by its Executive Director, Datuk Dr. Anis Yusal Yusoff,
engaged in fruitful discussions with the IPDN counterparts. The discussions resulted in realistic
timelines for academic exchange opportunities, student outbound programs, PhD training
opportunities for IPDN academic staff at INPUMA UM, leadership masterclasses at UMLEAD,
collaborative research and publications, and the potential for staff from both institutions to serve as
peer reviewers.

IPDN delegates presented their papers on sustainable environmental and economic trends among
emerging markets in the Global South and public sentiments on world leaders via Twitter regarding
the Russia-Ukraine conflict. Tan Sri Dr Sulaiman Mahbob, Adjunct Professor of INPUMA, and Dr Kevin
Fernandez, Senior Lecturer from the Asia Europe Institute (AEI) at UM, were leading discussants for
the presentations. The session concluded with an exchange of souvenirs between the institutions
and a lunch meal.
