14-15 May 2024 Datuk Dr Anis Yusal Yussof, the Executive Director of the International Institute of Public Policy and Management (INPUMA) and Centre for Universiti Malaya Leadership and Professional Development (UMLEAD) from Universiti Malaya (UM) received the invitation to give a lecture for Tatarstani civil servants as part of his contribution to the 2024 Russia: Islamic World Kazan Forum 2024.
During this historic visit, INPUMA UM and Kazan Federal University (KFU) agreed to strengthen their cooperation in various areas of public policy, governance, and administration. Both institutions signed a Memorandum of Agreement (MOA) for INPUMA to provide a masterclass and training program for Tartarstan civil servants in public administration and Islamic Finance. Datuk Anis from INPUMA UM met with Professor Dr Timirkhan Alishev, Vice-Rector for International Affairs of KFU during the visit. Igor Privalov, Director of the Higher School of Public Administration (HSPA), Ilnur Sharipov, Deputy Director of HSPA, and Yana Evdokimova, Deputy Director of the International Office, attended the meeting.
As INPUMA celebrates its 25th anniversary, the MOA with KFU in the Republic of Tatarstan is historic. It marks the first tie-up between INPUMA and a public learning institution specialising in training public policy and civil servants in Russia. KFU, the second oldest university in Russia, will soon celebrate 220 years since its establishment. As a result of this collaboration, a week-long training program on best practices and lessons from Malaysia in public policy, governance, and Islamic finance will take place in Kuala Lumpur, Putrajaya, and Melaka in August 2024.
