28-29 August 2024 Delegates from the International Institute of Public Policy and Management (INPUMA) at Universiti Malaya (UM), led by the Executive Director, Datuk Dr Anis Yusal Yusoff, visited the Faculty of Business, Economics, and Social Development (FPEPS) at Universiti Malaysia Terengganu (UMT).
The primary purpose of the visit was two-fold: first, to learn about public policy programs offered at the bachelor's degree level in other public universities, as the INPUMA's Master of Public Policy (MPP) primarily focuses on the master's level. Second, to gather input for INPUMA's future planning and promote the MPP program to prospective students from other institutions.
During the visit, INPUMA received a warm welcome from the Programme Leader of UMT's Policy Studies, Associate Prof. Dr. Rosyidah Muhamad, and the Deputy Dean (Academic and Student Affairs) of FPEPS, Associate Prof. Dr. Azwadi Ali. INPUMA's delegation included Prof. Dr Tariqur Rahman (Deputy Executive Director for Development, Research, and Innovation), Dr Aslam Abd Jalil (MPP Program Coordinator), Mdm Norazura Hassim (Assistant Registrar), and Miss Nurul Firdaus (Administrative Assistant for the MPP Program).
The visit also strengthens ties and facilitates meaningful dialogue among academics teaching public policy or policy studies at various degree levels in many varsities. The two-day visit involved fruitful discussions and instructive feedback, as INPUMA is currently reviewing the MPP program curriculum. Ultimately, INPUMA UM's promotional visit gathers input from various stakeholders and ensures the new curriculum remains relevant to market needs and societal aspirations
